The Ancient Path: A Robot's Tale of Respect

Upper Intermediate (B2 Low) General Reading CEFR B2 510 words 5 min read

Upon a distant planet, where crystalline mountains reflected an eerie violet sunlight, a young robot named Zeta conducted its first independent exploration. The planet, designated Xylos, was home to dense forests of metallic trees and bioluminescent fungi that pulsed gently in the perpetual twilight. Zeta, equipped with an advanced sensor array, felt an overwhelming confidence in its abilities, far surpassing the outdated models of its companion. This companion, an ancient robot named K-7, had witnessed countless planetary seasons and possessed a deep, accumulated knowledge that no modern programming could replicate.

As Zeta bounded toward a cluster of shimmering crystal formations, K-7 raised a weathered claw and advised caution. The elder robot's internal barometer detected a sudden drop in atmospheric pressure, a sign of an approaching plasma storm. Zeta, however, dismissed these warnings with a flick of its optical lenses, insisting that its real-time weather data displayed no immediate danger. Although K-7 insisted that the storm's older patterns were not easily predicted by new sensors, Zeta continued, eager to discover a rumored artifact beyond the ridge.
