Milo was a small monkey with big, bright eyes. He lived in a giant rainforest with tall, green trees. One morning, he woke up and felt very curious. He wanted to see the top of the forest. His mother said, "The canopy is high and dark, Milo. Please stay near our home." But Milo did not listen.

Milo climbed up the thick trunk of a very old tree. He passed the dark forest floor where mushrooms grew on wet roots. Then he went through the middle layer, full of vines and noisy birds. Finally, he reached the canopy, the highest layer of the forest. It was like a green ocean of leaves under the blue sky.
