In the big blue ocean, there lived a dolphin named Dax. Dax was fast and loved to swim, but he often swam alone. Every year, the ocean animals had a big race. Dax wanted to win more than anything. He practiced every day, but he did not have a friend to help him.

One morning, Dax met a small turtle named Tilly. Tilly was slow, but she was very kind. Dax asked, "Will you help me practice for the race?" Tilly smiled and said, "Yes, I will help you." So every day, Tilly watched Dax swim and gave him good advice. Dax learned to swim better and faster.

Grammar Focus

Past Simple: subject + verb-ed (regular) or irregular verb

We use the past simple to talk about actions that happened and finished in the past. For regular verbs, we add -ed; irregular verbs have special forms.

Tip: Remember that irregular verbs like 'swim' become 'swam' in the past simple.
Modal verb 'will' for offers and promises: subject + will + base verb

We use 'will' to make offers, promises, or to talk about the future. It shows willingness to do something.

“ Tilly smiled and said, "Yes, I will help you."
Tip: Use 'will' when you promise to do something for someone.
Comparative adjectives: adjective + -er or more + adjective

We use comparatives to compare two things. For short adjectives, add -er; for longer adjectives, use 'more'.
