In the Singing Forest, every tree sings a happy song. A tiny light named Lumi lives in a big old oak tree. Lumi is very small, but Lumi is brave. Brave means you do something even when you feel scared. Every morning, Lumi sings with the forest.

One day, the forest song stops. The trees are quiet. Quiet means no sound at all. The birds do not sing. The flowers do not dance. Lumi feels sad and worried. "What can I do?" Lumi asks. "I am only a little light."

Grammar Focus

Present Simple: subject + verb

We use the present simple to talk about facts, habits, and things that are always true. For he, she, or it, we add -s to the verb.

“ A tiny light named Lumi lives in a big old oak tree.
Tip: Remember to add -s for he, she, or it. For example, 'She sings' not 'She sing'.
Past Simple: subject + verb-ed (regular verbs)

We use the past simple to talk about actions that finished in the past. For regular verbs, we add -ed.

“ Lumi travels through the dark forest.
Tip: For regular verbs, add -ed to talk about the past. For example, 'travel' becomes 'traveled' (or 'travelled' in British English).
Future Simple: will + verb

We use will + verb to talk about the future, or to make a promise or decision.

“ I will be brave.
Tip: Use 'will' for all subjects. For example, 'I will', 'you will', 'she will'.
