In the heart of the desert, where the sun shines hot and bright, lived a small lizard named Leo. Leo loved to explore, but he often felt thirsty because water was hard to find. One day, he met a wise old tortoise named Tilly, who had lived in the desert for many years. Tilly noticed that Leo looked tired and hot, so she decided to teach him the secrets of survival.
"Leo," said Tilly, "you must learn to adapt to the desert, just like the plants and animals here do." She showed him a cactus that stored water inside its thick stem. "This plant saves water for times of scarcity," she explained. Leo was amazed and wanted to learn more. Tilly also told him how to find shade under rocks and how to stay cool by resting during the hottest part of the day.
