Paragraphs 1–2 of 5

In the heart of the Whispering Jungle, where the trees twisted like ancient fingers, lived a lion named Kael. He had a magnificent mane, but his eyes often held a shadow of fear. Every night, a monstrous creature emerged from the darkest cave, its growls echoing through the vines. The other animals trembled, and Kael knew he had to protect them, yet he felt a deep, unsettling doubt.

One evening, as the moon cast eerie shadows, Kael called a meeting. "I will defeat the monster," he declared, his voice steady but his heart racing. However, he secretly planned to lie about his bravery, hoping to gain glory without facing the beast. The animals cheered, unaware of his deception. A wise old owl, perched on a branch, watched Kael with knowing eyes.

“ If he had been honest, he might have asked for help, but his pride held him back.
Tip: Use 'might have' instead of 'would have' to show possibility rather than certainty.
Present Perfect: subject + have/has + past participle
